2023 – September Part II

Hey again,

So after the Hill Valley festival, we spent the night at my parent’s place (in Sacramento), and the next morning – just like that we were on our way back.

The kids were a little tired and slept a good portion of the way back.

It was a long ride back, but worth it. We only went for one day of the event. There were 3 days, and on the last day, they had the Delorean back on the train tracks once again. Maybe next time.

September 11th was the following day. We took a trip down to Salem to visit the memorial that was opened to the public for the first time since the pandemic.

I must say, it was a nice memorial. They had part of the Pentagon and the WTC. One thing I haven’t seen in the other memorials we have visited was that grey metal piece. That was part of the outer skin of the WTC towers. The only thing missing from this one was something from Pennsylvania.

Every year we try to visit a memorial and explain to our kids what happened. Not sure how common that is, but it’s something that we have been consistent in doing. The hardest part about doing so in the Northwest is that they don’t have many memorial sites, and when they do, they are either very small or sometimes private. Like the one above, for example, was open only on Sept 11 but normally isn’t open.

What is that? Gas pumping in Oregon? Yeah, sadly they have passed a law that allows for anyone to pump their own gas now. The days of old are on their way out the door.

We did get an update that our van is ready to be picked up! We made our way to the dealer and picked her up. Here is a photo of the rental and the van before I dropped the BMW off.

Arabella wanted to go with me (probably just to get out of the house, but I’ll take the time with her either way). Here is a photo of her riding the MAX with me on the way back to the house.

Things are starting to get back to normal.
